urban photography
Michael wolf

Michael wolf is a photographer inspired by urban life. Many of his photos are taken from a variety of different angles and the patterns are very repetitive. when taking his photos he try's to include as many lines and shapes as he can. he also uses cropping to focus your attention to the lines and the shapes. The main focus of his photos is to capture moments that wouldn't necessarily be able to be captured again. He also uses high contrast to emphasis the structure.

my response to Michael wolf
these are my first lot of repetition photos. I took images of the same part of the building, but jut changed the angle of the photo and zoomed in and out.

to get this image I had to duplicate the layer and increase the height of the canvas to 200%. then I rotated the image 180*.
|
To get this image I had to duplicate the layer 4 times and increase the width of the canvas by 400%. I then had to move each layer right across the canvas. I then increased the height by 400% and flattened the image.

investigating abstract buildings
In these photographs I looked at city streets, trying to find patterns that relate to urban abstract, shape, patterns and repetition.

refining repetition, pattern and shape.
This is my original picture that I had taken and I inspired by keld helmer Peterson and I was encourage to take photographs like his photographs of his bold abstract photos.

in this image I cropped the photo to focus on the silhouettes in the image, and changed it into black and white.
|
to get this final image after cropping it I had to change the levels.
|
Here I wanted to put human and urban abstract together. to do this I had to open both images, the background and the main image, on to Photoshop. I had to adjust the opacity of the image until I was satisfied with what the two images combined together looked like.
my favourite photographs from this project.
Having looked at my favourite photos I looked to see what two would go together best. I looked for links and found that the two I had chosen had the same geometrical shapes.
Here I put both photo's onto Photoshop then copied one layer onto the other by selecting one photo and pasting it onto the other one. I then changed the opacity until I was satisfied with the end result.
|
I changed the colour balance to try and make the background image stand out more then the other image.
|
to get this image, I change the curves and the levels of the photos to try and make a balance between the photos.
|
in this image I changed the hue and saturation to experiment if vibrant colours would be suitable for this image.

in this image I just changed it to black and white. I did that to make both image eye catching.
|
Here I changed the levels to try and make the background picture be very faint.

I changed the hue and saturation to bring out the background of the image.
